Minister for Digital and Financial Services says DLT 'most insulated' from no-deal Brexit scenario

24 Sep 20

Albert Isola says that companies working with Distributed Ledger Technology are prepared for Brexit, and that the nature of the industry means that it is perhaps the area of Gibraltar’s economy which would be ‘most insulated’ from the potential damage of a no-deal scenario. The Minister for Digital and Financial services also commented on an EU legal draft on digital assets which was leaked recently, saying Gibraltar already adheres to many of the standards being considered, and that ‘we will be part of the process’ as it unfolds. Speaking after the government released updated guidance notes, which he said have been updated and refreshed, Mr Isola said this is a technology-driven business and as such requires frequent reassessment.
